Musky Tusky

When someone gets an idea in my circle, I inevitably want to pass it through my Musky Tusky filter to see if it passes.

See, Musky Tusky is the half brother of Elon Musk, and like his brother, Musky has a flare for grand ideas and a penchant for coordinating complexity from first principles.

When an idea bubbles up, I ask myself: ‘Can I picture Musky Tusky taking this on? Would this idea be something so big that only Musky would dare to pursue?’

Inevitably, the idea fails the test which signals that there’s little reason to invest time and energy building it out.

Of course, this is all just a silly mental exercise, and it’s just one such filter that I use to scrutinize creativity as it pertains to business ideas. All the same, I do think it’s an important method to quickly squash marginal ideas and iterative thinking.
